In Colorado, she was a part of the Denver Center Theater Academy, and performed in theaters throughout the state including the Arvada Center, the Shakespeare Festival and several tours through the southwest.
Alexa chose to attend Vassar College where she graduated cum laude with a degree in theater and a minor in history. During her time in New York, Alexa performed off-Broadway and internationally in classics such as Miss Julie, The Oresteia, and The Seagull. After booking several commercials, Alexa packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles.
Alexa booked her first role on The West Wing as Leo McGarry’s assistant, and went on to work on Criminal Minds and several independent films before booking the role of Allison on Mad Men.
What began as a co-star evolved into four seasons on the hit AMC show. Alexa won the Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the Best Ensemble, and received great reviews for her performance over the years.
Alexa was an early cast member of Mortified, now airing on Sundance Channel, and you can find her writings as part of the Mortified book, available on Amazon or your local bookstore.
Alexa is also a writer, and together with her husband has written multiple pilots and features. In 2012, they were recognized by The Tracking Board on the 2012 Young and Hungry List for their pilot, Appletown. They currently have quite a few projects in development, and are actively seeking funding for an independent feature they hope to shoot in 2013.
In her spare time, Alexa visits her family in Italy where she is an Italian citizen, and speaks the language fluently, plays classical piano, and enjoys cooking for her friends and family. She also spends time teaching children, and volunteering for injured Veterans.
